Hello
I was running the flail mower over brush when the PTO disengaged and would not re-engage. I found that a branch had gone up behind the rear axle pulling a two pin wire connector out (see picture). I was able to put the two wire leads back into the tractor socket (without the mating socket, wires pulled out of it) but still no PTO. All the fuses are good, so I am thinking maybe there is more wiring harness damage as a few rear wire harnesses leads go up under the seat. Any advise on how to trouble shoot this?

Those little metal connectors can be replaced but you'll need a special crimper to get them back on the wire like it should be.

The green rubber part with ribs goes in the socket too. It helps hold the connectors in place and is dirt/water seal.

In the PIC it's up next to the wire loom. One wire doesn't look like it's seated all the way in the pic. I can see the metal connector out further than the other one.

I think your last two pictures need to be turned 1/2 turn clockwise.

Looks the PTO solenoid key 6 in the drawing

Also check the PTO speed sensor key 17 in the drawing.

I'll bet the connector is key 7 made by Delphi. P/N 57M7850

Second look you are missing the part with the clip. You can see where it locks into place on the socket.

That's the body of the connector. Lucky the wires did not pull out of the terminals.
Bit of trivia:
Delphi IDs their connectors by the gender of the terminals. Although it plugs into the solenoid (you would think male connector) the terminals are female, so it's called a female connector.

Update on PTO problem through GTT

I'm thanking all of you for chiming in! Indeed the wiring issue is on #6 solenoid and it's that 2 pin female Delphi connector. I was able to get a replacement Delphi and female pins at Pape' and I'm now looking where to get the Delphi crimp tool. Any ideas what it is and where to get it? I will also check the speed sensor wiring.

I bought a CHEAP crimmer off eBay. You have to crimp in two steps. First the wire, then the insulation.

He is missing the latch part that holds the green rubber end that has the terminals inside it.
Agreed, that's the connector body.

PTO Still Non Op

JD would be a good place to start since they would have to have the connectors and the tool.

I'm working on getting a pic of the jaws on the tool from a guy that has one.

I ordered that crimp tool, it made up the connector fine! I was able to get the female connector all in order and reassembled. Thank You!

However, After verifying polarity the EH solenoid is actuating on a bench power supply and the incoming no load voltage leads to the solenoid is 14+ vdc; My DMM indicated voltage present for 2-3 seconds after the PTO switch is engaged, then drops off and so does PTO dash light. I then measured the voltage with the solenoid connected into the circuit; 8.5 vdc with pto switch engaged and drops out 2 - 3 seconds as did above. I'm wondering if there is some error code needing cleared or ??? This all started with a branch pulling out the female deplhi connector to the EH solenoid:banghead:.

Maybe disconnecting your battery, waiting few minutes will either clear any codes, or reboot?? :dunno: Worth a try.
