5090E alternator code

Hello, so I have a 5090E John Deere. Hard to crank, then started and alternator fault code ECU 3353.31 came up. I removed the alternator had it tested, it had a bad voltage regulator, had it replaced. Put it back on along with a new fully charged battery. Started tractor and code is still there. I tried clearing it and it won’t clear.
Thank you,
Ernie

after you started the tractor did you check the voltage to see if it was for sure charging?

No we bench tested it at the alternator shop but did not check voltage afterward.

since its still giving you the code i would start there just to verify .........just start the tractor and check voltage at the battery while running should be at least 13.7 +/-

ttazzman,

So I checked the voltage to the battery 12.80. Then started the tractor and it is 14.52.
Not sure what is going on.

Well that certainly means the new alternator is working ..... sometimes it takes several cycles for codes to go away

so is it safe to use ? And will the code just go away or will i have to clear ? because i can clear it now and it comes back

cant answer that for sure .....14.5v is within normal range for a correctly functioning alternator ....not sure why your not able to clear code or if it will clear itself on your specific tractor ....on other tractors when i have repaired the item the code went away when i dissconnected and reconnected the battery and the ecu reset
