I have a 2016 5100E MFWD tractor. My issue is the tractor is going into MFWD automatically. This tractor does not have the auto function like its bigger bothers. I bought this tractor new, have 1300+ hours on it and never had an issue. I can be running the tractor then all of the sudden it is in MFWD. The light indicator will be on but the switch is in the off position. Most cases it will stay this way until the tractor sits for a few days. When I start it back up for sitting, the light cycle with the switch like it suppose to and go out. I might be able to run it for hours with no issues, then it engages again. There has been times I have stopped the tractor as soon as the light comes on ( and the front axle is engaged), turn tractor off, wait 30 seconds, start it back up and it will be disengaged. I have check the wires going to the solenoid under the transmission and have not found any issues. Any ideas i can check before I end up taking it to JD and it be $$$ for something they can't fix.

The service manual for your tractor is the same as for my 5085E and it appears the most likely causes are a problem with the EH MFWD solenoid, the MFWD switch, or the manual linkage. Since it clears after you turn it off its most likely not the linkage. PM me your email and I can help you more directly with pages of the manual if you like.
