5103 Three Point Hitch Problem...

8636 Views 14 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  Yellow Jacket
Hello,

Have a 2008 (5103) 3150 I just got. Learning the ropes.

Previous owner had about 500lbs of concrete block on the very back of a disc harrow.

Three Point would not raise.

Took blocks off, and it would raise, but with a good bit of throttle.

Raise rocker arms all the way up and turn off engine, and the arms go back down.

Any ideas on what to look for?

Thank you!

Forgot to mention that there is a 4 series loader on the front - 422?...if that adds any helful info.
My apologies....the Tractor is JD 5103, with 522 bucket.

Should I move this to the "5" series forum?
Thank you - sorry for goofing up on my first post!
It didn't seem to bog, just needed some throttle to get it to raise.
Well, maybe this won't stump the crowd - it is not normal for the rocker arms (raised) to drop when the engine is turned off is it?
With the arms fully raised - I shut off the tractor and it takes about 3 -5 seconds for the arms to fall all the way to the bottom.
Thanks,

Going to try that this evening!
Knocked off work and rode out to the farm this evening.

Raised rockshaft to top, tightened valve and turned engine off as you suggested.

Arms did not drop. I stood on each arm and both arms and they didn't budge.

Did happen to see a killer sunset and frosty breath while this was happening.

Thank you again for your input here...
