hello all, been rebuilding a 52 B model and after having reinstalled the gov I seem to have a problem. When the speed control is hooked up and closed and the the throttle rod is attached, the carb is in the wide open position. Opening the speed control has no effect since the carb is in WOT to begin with. Did I install the governor improperly. Should I just lift up the governor case and position the arm forward? Is the thrust bearing stuck or are the weights out of position? Any insights prior to disassembly would be helpful. PS the gov and cam are aligned properly. Thanks Jim

I have a early '47 AN, governor wasn't working properly found that the holes for the weights were wore out of round. Even though everything was set right, when the engine starts the weights swings out to far & wore some of the weight off. Might be something to look At if you get it back apart. Hope this helps you. I think that is how it's supposed to work. The lower the engine RPMs, the more the carb will want to open, as RPMs increase, the weights move out and try to force the carb closed to drop the RPMs. So at 0 RPM, the carb should be wide open, at max RPM the governor should be trying to completely close the carb. You control how much the carb can be closed by the throttle lever.
