i have not been able to find a answer to this question....540e vs 540std .......on my tractor i have not hooked up a implement yet that the 540e will not run....how do you know if your overloading the 540e is there a guideline on when to use one over the other...are there general rules for using the 540e.....at least on my tractor starting a high inertial force implement on 540e will certainly bog more than standard but thats to be expected....is there a risk to the PTO clutch? .....risk to starting up high inertial implements?

IDK I always forget to try using the 540E. I mean to do it when tedding or bush hogging smaller stuff, but always forget. I would guess you just king of feel how it's running in 540E. I would assume it would be like using a PTO implement in too high a gear. I would assume the motor would start bogging if your load was too much for 540E.

I assume the same ....its a interesting question with out a lot of responses...i would think someone has experienced 540e overload at sometime

it certainly states 540e is not appropriate for full HP situations which seems obvious since the engine requires the appropriate rpms to develop the full hp....clear as mud :dunno:...i would be curious if someone has ever overloaded a 540e and how it responded... thx for the reply :good2::greentractorride:

Here's a couple of videos I took today of me bush hogging in 540E. I have to be honest I was pretty impressed with how well it did. I did a lot of cutting in much thicker stuff than I got on camera. At WOT in 540E the engine revs past the 1500 RPM setting where 540E is achieved to about 1700 RPM where the POT is spinning between 600 and 610 RPM's. Those are higher RPM's than not being in 540E. I think the lowest RPM I saw was actually 540 and that was if you hit something like a big dirt mound. When cutting thicker stuff the PTO typically stayed between 570-590 RPM's. This was all done in what you might consider 8th gear and the tractor was travelling at 5.3 MPH pretty consistently.

I'm not saying I'd want to bale hay in 540E but it might do just fine at it. What I wonder is this:

Our baler is a Vermeer Rebel 5410. It produces a 4'x5' round bale. My 5075E has no issues with this baler, but turning it at 1700 RPM's at nearly the same MPH that I normally travel at 2200 RPM's might be pushing it. (again IDK how it would do) Assuming ttazzmans 5105M is making 30 more HP than my 5075E one would think that at his 540E PTO engine RPM's that he'd likely be making at least as much HP as my tractor makes at its full engine RPM's. If this is true then I would think he'd have no issues using the same implement that I'm using at the same MPH if he was in 540E and I was in regular 540. Just some of my thoughts on it.
