I haven’t seen a new 54D with this 2 piece metal kit as so many go for the 60D or have the older 54D with the 3 plastic inserts. I only received my kit mid November so no mowing experience on it. I decided over Christmas to throw it on to ensure no problems (still stock blades for now). Here are some pics before, after and the pieces (really close together) on the ground as these pics were meant originally for my father in law to see them so they aren’t the best.

Thanks for the post. I also just got a 2021 1025R and opted for the 54D mmm. I have been looking around for some info on the mulching kit for the new style 54.

I have the BM23977 on my 54D and love it!

This pic was after finishing leaf duty in the fall.

Hey, that's the same part # (BM23977) that I got for my 54HC for the x738 (MY17) in 2020.

Have not noticed much of a downside other than a bit more dust though many folks seem to want the BM26300 switchable. I presume that model fits the current model 54D deck also.

I find it a great leaf mulcher with the mulch blades.

It looks like it does a great job containing debris stuck on the underside to mostly the blade area. Your baffle in front of the blades looks pretty good. When I cleaned mine up that area including the small ones in the rear are tough to clean without using a pressure washer. Notice you have the Load N Go as well. Did you have to adjust yours much? With mine I had a tough time getting the paddles back off and basically had no choice to drop the deck from about 3" off the ground so gravity would do the rest. Afterwards I compared distances to my bucket and was off by 3/16" which was just enough as it seemed better after that but only needed to lift it once. For the deck itself, I find it goes on and off the tractor in less than a minute (even no problem with the PTO in the mid position not freely spinning). Cuts great too, almost mulches great without the kit. Sorry for going a bit off-topic.

The LnG worked properly right from the start. The trick I use when lowering the deck to the ground is to lay it flat and then continue to curl and lift slightly to disengage the top hooks.

Interesting as I did notice in the Deere parts search the 54D comes up for a few different series. I hadn’t seen the mulch kit you suggested but I can see why some would opt for it. Not sure if it fits my deck or not but even my mulch kit doesn’t list anything other than the X or Z series if you search just the part #. I can only find the part # when searching for 1025R parts in general.

When I was looking for a mulching kit for my x738 I used the expertise here on GTT to make the decision :D

Folks had both the BM23977 and BM26300 on their 54" decks on their x's. I always mulch so I didn't think the additional complexity of the 26300 was necessary.

Still interesting to see that the kit from my generation x738 54" deck shows up as the part for the newest 54D on the 1025r. (y)

I'm trying to figure out what kit is required for my deck. I could call the dealer and ask.
This is the deck listed on my build:
54D AutoConnectTM 7-Iron Mid-Mount
Side Discharge Mower (1023E, 1025R
Model Year 2020 and 2025R)

Google is telling me it's TCB11469.

I wish there was more clarity on understanding what I needed. :(

I have a 2021 2025R, here's the MMM part of the quote before discounts:

When I search 54D 7-iron mulch kit (54d 7-iron mulch kit - Google Search), it comes up with this kit here:
Our tractors are not listed in the list at the bottom of the page either though, so I have no idea.

I called up the dealer, he said $314.xx. I didn't ask the part number, figured he knows which one I need. Based on the price it's probably the same one. Few bucks more at the dealer than online, but shipping added would be a wash anyways.

The link I posted is Green Part Store. Thanks to @Tractor Tim, use code "TTWT" for free shipping!

Wow, how inflation has hit. This time last year I paid $285CAD. $314USD is $395CAD right now (and no doubt would be more for the dealer to get it here right now. The base 1025R is $2500CAD more than I paid a year ago and the list goes on...

I told my dealer to order me a mulch kit for my 2025R on the same day I ordered the mulch kit for my 455 from Green Parts Store. The 455 kit has been here a week...nothing from the dealer yet, I checked Saturday.
