I understand that the Arms/Axles, for the Gauge Wheels, changed after Serial # 40,000 for the 62C Mower Deck.
My question is ... WHAT changed?
Are the "new" arms better in some way?
I am going to change all three (3) arms and all four (4) wheels.
So, can I buy the newer style arms for the older ( < 40,000 ) style 62C Deck?
Are the newer arms, "IMPROVED" in any way?
Are the newer style arms 100% compatible with the older decks?
There does not appear to be an old style vs new style Gauge Wheel.

Parts diagram for John Deere 62C Mower Deck ...

Note:
There are two (2) #8 Arms / Axles ...
Old = AM131288
New = AM120680

There are two (2) #9 Arms / Axles ...
Old = AM131289
New = AM120681

BUT, there is only one (1) Wheel Assembly, regardless of Serial # ...
Gauge Wheel = AM125172

So, one wheel will fit both the old arm/axle and the new arm/axle?

No idea why the change. I'll guess JD corrected a problem, OR found a cheaper way to manufacture the arms.
Check the 62C for the x series tractors, there are 3 choices for arms 8 & 9
key 8 AM137396 serial 90001-
key 9 AM137395 serial 90001-
Also several idler pulley choices, and two idler spring choices.
I try and use the latest P/N.

Parts shows two different P/Ns for the deck, with -40000 and 40001- break.
I would probably ask the parts guy to show me both.
If ordering online, I would go by my serial number.

On this web page
I do see that there are were two different decks ...
Old Style Deck #16A = AM132649 ( < 40,000 )
New Style Deck #16B = AM137574 ( > 40,000 )

But then both of those 62C Decks were superseded by one newer deck = AM140696
What a confusing mess.

I will order using Parts # per the Older Style ( < 40,000 ) 62C Deck.

Still, would be nice to know if the New Style Part #'s actually fixed a problem vs Older Style Parts.
Or was it "change just for the sake of change" ?

I ordered the wrong parts for my 62c deck once upon a time. If I recall correctly the difference was the diameter of the vertical shaft. I think it was smaller on the earlier decks.....but don't hold me to it.
