I was out mowing and realized the deck wasn’t lowering after lifting it.

the tractor is a 1986/87 655. I can raise the deck/3pt hitch just fine. I lower the lever, and nothing. If I push on the deck or hitch bars, it drops. I haven’t done any repairs on this yet besides the usual maintenance so I have no idea where to look first. I’ll be checking hydraulic fluid as soon as it cools.

Sounds as if the Rate of Drop control may be set too slow (closed). There should be a valve (like a spigot) near the left fender somewhat under the seat ahead of where the roll bar returns down to the transaxle. Turn that valve a turn to the left (open) and see if that helps.

and lube the pivot points of the rear lift links that are hooked to rear of mower.

Fittings are way up in there inside the frame rails iirc
