Hello,
I an looking into converting my 7000 JD 12 row planter to a no till type. Wondering about what type of down pressure systems would be best and affordable.Do I need a no till coulter ahead of the seed units with the trash whips? Any suggestions would be welcome.

I have a 4 row no-till 7000 planter. There we two types of no till coulters offered for them, I actually have both types. One was a direct bolt to the row unit in front of the seed openers, and the other type was mounted to the upper row unit mounts and had its own down pressure springs just for the coulter. I have the first time on the 4 row 7000. I have the other type on my 5 row bean splitter that mounts behind it. I'll try and snap some photos for you and post them in the up coming days.

Looks like Fastrunner08 will get you pointed in the right direction. You may also look at companies like Dawn equipment, Yetter and many others that make things for this. There are so many options for 7000’s out there that you will be able to find a lot of information for row cleaners, closing wheels and everything else.

I bought my no-till kits for mine from Shoup. I just put the coulter up front and the down pressure springs on the row unit linkages. No trash whips.
