I am not a fan of 7R IVT. If you want 200 HP range IVT I would go with a 6210R or 6215R. If you like the 7R size, I would stick with PowerQuad or AutoQuad. The 8R IVT has been bulletproof as well.

The 7200R is fine if it does not have IVT. The IVT is ok if in a 6R or 8R. There are some 7R's that have been fine with IVT's but in my experience, I have seen substantially more problems with them. And the design of the tractor is very labor intensive to do transmission work compared to the 8R and 6R.

just curious do you mean the 7200r or all 7000r series? We have a 3 with ivt's and ils havent had a problem with any 7280, 7290, and 7310 2000 hrs 1200 hrs and 310 hrs I however will say the later def machines are a way better tractor over having the exhaust filter

It seems like the problems were with earlier serial number 7r's with IVT. Didn't have trouble with all, just higher percentage than other models. Seems like if they got past 500 hours, they were ok. The past 3 years models have been pretty reliable.
