The way to go is an 8" bucket for trenching, and a 16" bucket for digging. Thats what I did when I bought my tractor, but I knew Id be digging trenches too.

Well, I guess the best all around way would be to just get all three buckets! :bigbeer:

When doing trench work and laying a 4" pipe maybe a 6", it will be tight work with a 8" bucket

With 12" bucket , if the need comes along you can lay 2- 4" pipe side by side in a 12" .. When city water came to our community used the 12" plenty to get in the ditch to make any and all connections. Just my 2 cents.

I've never had a 8" or 16" bucket just going by personal use and salesperson when I bought my BH.

Have you checked into the Bxpanded trenching bucket? I checked a few months ago and it was cheaper than the JD.
