Hello everyone, I'm new to the forum and I have a question about the older 8 speed powershifts. I was wondering if the ag transmissions were the same internally as the ones in the industrial line (in that era). I'm in the logging business and I'm looking at a Skidder with the 8 speed. If I buy it and have trans trouble, it would be nice to know that ag crossed over for parts. Thank you

I don't have any experience with skidders specifically, but I know some of the backhoes of that era used the same parts as ag tractors. I did a quick search on the 540 skidder transmission and found the complete clutch pack and planetary pack did not cross over to ag parts. It is still possible individual clutch disks and other parts may cross over but without an actual model you are considering or a particular part needed, it is hard to say for sure.
