working on the brake piston housing for the quad range planetary assy. on the side of the housing, around the oil tube there is a set screw with a nut retaining a spring and ball that rides on the shift valve, is there any guidance on how to properly set the depth of this set screw (spring tension), i do not have the old set screw to measure

It sounds like its just a detent. I would just count how many turns it takes to get it out and then put it in the same amount.

that's what i figured, but i wasn't for sure looking at it closer i don't really see why its adjustable, the older models use just a bolt at a set depth. either way thanks for the input!

hillbilly,

Is this the set screw(21) you're asking about?

If so, adjust it to where the lower valve(13) moves(while air testing) when shifting valve(6) up & down.
If screwed down too far, the lower valve(13) may not move.
