Sometimes I think I am overly cautious when it comes to using my tractor, but something like this reminds me there is probably no such thing as being too cautious. Even being that way, you can make a mistake. I hate to hear a story like this, but it does drive home the point.

Be careful out there friends.

With most drivers today so very distracted it's a very uneasy feeling being on the road. I have to travel only one mile on the road to get to my in laws which is where my wife's horse barn is. That is also where our corn and potatoe plots are plus I mow their law quite a bit. Many close calls in just that short distance. It's very sad to hear of stories like this, I just wish people would slow down and pay attention to driving instead of everything else.

Am I reading the story correctly? That the driver got off of the tractor while it was moving & then tried to get back on while it was moving.

Without knowing all the facts I would say he jumped off and the tractor started rolling and he was attempting to get back on and stop it. But I suppose nobody will really know. Tragic anyway one wants to look at it.

It's a great reminder . . . I think I'm cautious but ahh, not cautious enough I'm sure, especially with living on a hill.:nunu:

Yea, the article is a little confusing . . . I suspect the parking brake wasn't set.

's for his family-they need em. i know fast this stuff can happen, i got throwed off our old 38 jd b as a kid-and our small wagon ran over my shoulder causing my collar bone to be broken. then yrs later now-i had to have that left socket and ball be replaced.

my wifes dad's dad was killed by his farm tractor plowing. they had a 2 bottom trailer plow that somehow hooked a big rock-or maybe a tree root. FIL-wasn't sure -but it caused the tractor to flip backwards and killed him. his older brother found him-when he failed to come home in the evening.

That would be my guess, and it does not surprise me at all.

Prayers to the family, just a reminder accidents happen in a flash.

Had a cousin killed , the family is guessing he was standing beside the tractor it was in gear , he pressed the started button and tractor ran over him.
