I was washing off my 1025 last night and noticed these notches in the bottom of this tray area on the left side of my drivers seat. It looks like retainer clips would hold some type of tray in place or rubber liner, any ideas?

It's so the water won't stand in it should you get some in it. You said you washed it, water would be standing in it if the slots weren't there same as in your cup and tool compartments on the right side.

I've always wondered if JD made a nice little rubber mat that fit in there and then canceled it before production. The holes serve as drains, but they sure don't seem like that's what they were put there for.... :unknown:

Upon pre-delivery inspection of my unit, I insisted that there must be a missing part that would go in there. The tech told me that's the way they are. Seems like JD cheaped out somewhere along the line.

Thought exactly the same thing when my 1025r was delivered last week. Sure looks like something is missing.

Could it be something the European market might use ??

The 1026R European model with the optional Cab has acoustical upholstery that covers that area, but I don't believe it snaps in place. (I wish I could have found a bigger picture)

The European Cab model is sexy too with an interesting snow thrower design.

The holes look too specific to be mere drainage holes; there would not have been a need for 4 of them. I looked through the European parts list and it looks just like the North American parts list, with the exception of mirrors that clamp onto the grab handles.

A pack of cigarettes and a lighter ride nicely there.

I also noticed what seems to be 2 locator holes in the very back of the opening, maybe it's a future mounting spot for a on board computer that will let us run our tractors from our smart phones:thumbup1gif:
