I was doing some searches on Deere compact utility tractors and found this site. I have a 1954 40U, but decided it is time to embrace new technology. This afternoon I asked the local Deere dealer to order me up a 2520 with the FEL and 62D deck. Should be here by the end of the month. I'm sure I'll have a bunch of questions once it arrives.

Anyone looking to buy a 1954 40U?

The 2x20's are very nice and I'm sure you'll really like your new tractor

You post some pics and you may have it gone. Even if you want to keep it, we still love pics!:mocking:

Here ya go! This was me plowing the garden last spring. The 40U is a nice tractor, but we started planting a small orchard this year (only 25 trees so far) and the 40U with a finish mower behind it is almost 17' long. That, and the lack of power steering doesn't make for a tight-turning mowing machine. Plus my wife won't drive it as it is a manual transmission. I've been debating on getting a modern CUT, and this year decided to go for it. I bought the 40U in 2001 and completely rebuilt it. The only part that didn't need work was the transmission, everything else has been apart and rebuilt and painted. I love running the tractor, but it is time to pick up something newer and with a few new features I need.

Great looking tractor, I really like the looks of the old iron:thumbup1gif: You will find operating the 2520 to be a little more of a joy though.
