The local Home Depot has a reconditioned Z325E 54 in. for $800 less than retail. I've been to Home Depot's website and read some good reviews but also some real nightmares. Complaints about cracked frames, cracked decks and wheel spindles that wear out due to no grease fittings. I'm tempted to pull the trigger but don't want to buy a problem just to save a few hundred bucks. Any advice or comments?

I'm not a fan of buying return items either. When I spent my money on the John Deere mowers I bought, I bought them brand new. I did not want to deal with something that may have some issues.... I want to turn the key and do what I have to do. I maintain my own stuff and know what it's been through. IMO for an extra $ 800.00, I'd go on a new one for peace of mind...
That's what we did... We bought all of our Deere equipment from a local John Deere dealership brand new... We know them and they know us... We knew if there was any issue with new equipment, they would handle it... Thankfully my new equipment has been trouble free. My older equipment has caused me very little problems.... I maintain my own equipment and keep a close eye on it....
