My brother in law is thinking of selling his jd 647 tiller. I was thinking of buying it for using behind my 1025. Anyone have experience with these? Are they rugged? Good points, bad points?

It is an excellent tiller for a 1 series to use. My friend had one for his 1023. It does an excellent job.

Just another thumbs up. I bought one and used it to plant grass. I tilled three times to kill the grass and then used a yard rake to remove rocks.

I've locked up the tiller 3 times with no damage. I hit a very thick root and other times a large rock wedged enough to stop the tiller. I cleared the issue and went back to tilling. The clutch worked perfectly.

I've had a 647 for 15 yrs. with zero problems.

Used it with my 2305 and now using it with my 1025R, great tiller.

I have a 1025R and I use my JD 647 tiller all the time. Very well built.
