I have been watching the Bronson Pinchot Project on DIY network. It's in it's second season. If anyone doesn't know, Bronson Pinchot is an actor who played Balki on ABC's Perfect Strangers back in the 80s. He also has appear on a few movies and other TV shows.

Anyways he has bought some properties in Hartford, Pa and is restoring them. I don't think I agree with his choices or how he's restoring them, but it is sort of interesting to see what he's doing with them. Of course, he doesn't do much work himself, but seem to know a lot of about the older styles.

But, to me, the real star of the show is Hartford itself. Looks to be a very nice town and a nice area. So, therefore, the point of this thread. Has anyone been, or lived in or near, Hartford, Pa?

I live about 15 miles west of Harford. You are right; it is a very nice area. Susquehanna County used to be filled with family dairy farms. There are few left now. The local economy was in the crapper until natural gas drilling began three or four years ago. Things are now on the upswing, but dairy farming will never return. Harford is home to the Susuqehanna County Fair which has been conducted for something over 150 years.

According to letters and articles in the local weekly paper, Mr. Pinchot has stirred up the village. There have been law suits over property line disputes, building placement and that sort of thing. My wife watches the program and I have seen it a couple times. The workers seem to do excellent work with used and antique material. I don't care for that particular style. I also don't know how much time he spends there.

I also don't care much for that style either, but it is interesting. His carpenters do excellent work and he seems to change his mind a lot, so they have to redo a lot of the work. He seems to have taken the one guy, Mikey, under his wing. Mikey comes across as sort of goofy, but a good natured lad. The rest of his carpenters seem to tolerate Bronson, and seem to know he will probably change his mind and have them redo it. I guess to them, it's work and a paycheck.

I have wondered how the locals have taken to him. From the things I've read, he has bought a bunch of houses in that area. I think he does spend a lot of his time there. He doesn't work as much in Hollywood as he used to. The last project he had was for a Disney show back in 2011. It was a one episode gig for one of Disney's teen shows.

The carpenters seem very talented to me, but I can't do carpenter work. They do seem to roll with the punches and changes. Harford is a very small village with few houses and people.
