Just curious if any 2-series owners are running those rubber style tire "chains" for adding traction in the winter. I can't run real chains since I have a paved drive. Interested in reactions if you've tried them.

I bought a set for my Gen 1 2032R that has R4 tires. I have steel chains as well but I plow several driveways and one of the neighbors didn't want me using chains.

Anyway, they aren't cheap but they do work surprisingly well in snow. They won't do much for you on solid ice like steel chains will. If you're out in snow I'd say the rubber chains are 90% as effective as steel chains. But no damage to concrete or asphalt and the ride is quieter and slightly smoother.

I had a set on my 455 witj snow blower. Then i got hdap tires and havent used the.chains since.

The rubber chains were the TerraGrips.

They worked exceptionally well. I got them specifically for the purpose you mentioned. I still have them - it's just that with the hdap tires i have no traction issues any more

Cheers!
