Thinking about buying a 485A Backhoe for my 4044R for digging a pond, trenching etc on some land we are getting ready to build a house/shop on.

I know that Tractor Time with Tim, he complains about how 'jerky' his 260 backhoe is, does the 485A exhibit the same 'jerkiness'?

I wish there was a hydraulic thumb option on this hoe, the Woods BX-90X hoe has one, but not sure how the Woods hoe compares to the JD.

Thanks.

I've got a 485 BH on my 3320. I don't believe that Deere offers this option any longer.

I usually run at 1600-1800 RPM which is all that's necessary to operate the 485 safely. Cycle speed is good and operation is very smooth. The boom moves quickly when retracting to the park position so I usually feather the control to prevent slamming it into the stops. That's only a comment and not a concern.

I'm very impressed with the 485 BH. :good2:
