One of my favorite childhood desserts:
Filling:
¾ C light brown sugar
2 tsp cinnamon
1 T Flour
1-½ T Butter or Margarine
6-7 C baking apples (5-6 Granny Smith, Johnagold, etc) I like a mix of apple varieties.

For topping:
1 C Flour
½ C Brown Sugar (dark or light)
½ C Butter or Margarine softened
½ tsp cinnamon

Preheat oven to 350°.
Mix "filling" ingredients together (less butter/margarine) and sift over apples, mix well.
Pour coated apples into an 8 x 11 baking dish.
Break or cut the 1-½ T butter into pieces and place onto apples in the baking dish.
Mix all topping ingredients together, until a coarse crumb texture is achieved.
Sprinkle the topping mix evenly onto the apples, it looks best when not patted down, but left rough.
Bake @ 350° for around 60 minutes, remove from oven when the edges are bubbly, and the top is golden brown.
