Finally, someone found a good use for the overpriced Intel i5 x64 platform running BSD Unix with a jazzed up version of X-Windows. Sorry, but making it "cool" really doesn't justify paying 3x the cost of an x64 hardware platform and an open source OS like oh, say Free-BSD.

My 7-8 year old MacBook Pro says other wise. I almost wish it would die so I can buy get a newer one. Best 1199.99 I have ever spent.

Those of you that understand what is being said/talked about above please remember that most of us like to click on the icon that says "mail", and get our mail, then click on the musical note, and listen to some tunes. "BSD" = Big Swingin' d!ck where i'm from. We don't write code, or scripts, or use the bloody terminal. We don't know how to remove virii or malware. I don't know how to use pirate bay to find and download free updates and, well, stuff.

I have this constant argument with a buddy who is a MSc computer science guy. Of course his Sony Xperia and HP tablet work good for HIM - freakin' ENIAC would work for HIM!!!! For the rest of us, the relative stability, reliability, and user-friendliness of the ol' Mac is tough to beat.

If anyone wishes to push back on this one, I'll post how to do your own ACL reconstruction, and you can have at 'er. I'll make you this deal, if you don't complain when you don't understand WTF I'm talking about, I won't talk down to you for not knowing what Blumensaat's line is.

Better industrial design, better durability, better construction, better operating system... those justify the very, very slight price increase over an equivalent-spec machine made by someone else.

See THIS thread.

BTW, I think you would be hard pressed to beat the GUI of OSX with BSD and x windows.
I've often said OSX is Unix with a stable, functioning GUI.

I've never used an Apple product, and really have nothing against their technology...I just hate Apple's socialist snobby proprietary attitude.

Amen to that. My daughter loves Apple products and on a few occasions I've had to take her stuff to an Apple store for repair. I hate going in the store and now that she's out of school, I won't go back. I know they have some cool stuff out there but I don't need to deal with a company that has the attitude that I might not be cool enough to use their product. Maybe they are right, so I'll just struggle along without their stuff.

I like going to the Apple Store simply because I like picking on the not very smart people working at the 'genius bar'...

This sums it up for me, in addition to the lack of late of any real cahones to back up the attitude-especially in the phone market when other brands pilot tech years in advance but when it's incorperated into an iPhone years later they act like its their idea....

I agree with that.

I agree with the dumb-genius comment too. I can't stand them, they're useless.

Now, for those of you that couldn't take the hint:

"Start by making a 2cm over the per anserinous, through an mark you have made via palpation of semitendinosis and gracilis. Gently strip the soft tissue from the sartorius fascia....... "

Hahahahahahahaha - good morning.....

My wife's oldest nephew with a Harvard education is an Apple fanatic. He thinks they can do no wrong, and won't admit when he's bought a dud product (e.g. Newton PDA comes to mind). My wife said he posted on Faceplant a countdown to the new Crapple watch that he was creaming his jeans over. By the way, he's a Demorrhoid.

Windoze, Android, UNIX/Linux may not be perfect; but at least with those platforms I have a choice. If one pisses me off I have alternatives. With Crapple, I'm stuck until their next perfect POS hits the market.

Crapple snobs remind me of Starbux coffee snobs.

I agree with that.
