battery lite on X720SE

Shredded the deck belt while mowing this AM. Replaced belt, noticed battery lite on in rev and with headlites on, removed rev lite bulbs to continue mowing w/o draining battery. After mowing for an hr or so, now battery lite is on all the time. Any hints on where to begin? Thanks in advance.

You posted about starting issues with this riding mower back in 2016. Does it still have the same battery? I have been shopping for a BCI U1 battery myself this week for one that's dying after 3 years. If yours is 5 years old, I'd just replace it as a starting point. The light may be due to charging system issues and not the battery, but the battery is long in the tooth and a new one is fairly cheap.

This is listed in your Operator's Manual. I would recommend checking the battery first. Most auto parts stores will test your battery for free.

do a quick check that you have good clean battery connections . Check /test the charging system. Load test, or replace battery. Mostly likely its a bad ground or the battery is going bad.
Battery was replaced 2 yrs. ago, will load test it to verify. Remembered last nite I have a repair manual on CD, so I have been printing out the diagnostic pages. The fun begins. Nothing like having 2 machines down at the same time!!!!
As a simple 'charging system' test, put a voltmeter on your battery terminals and see what voltage you are at before you start the engine and then with the engine running (give it some revs). If you see no difference, or only a minor difference (like .5v), your tractor isn't charging the battery. I believe you should see around 14.5vdc.

Also, fully charge the battery before doing a load test on it. Load testing a discharged battery doesn't prove anything.

Some batteries don’t last very long. I had had some last less than a year and get replaced under warranty. The battery in my 1026r lasted 10 years.
, Printed out some diagnostic pages, tested the battery = OK, checked alt output at V/R connector = OK, cleaned connector, mowed for 45 min. tonite, lite was off all the while mowing, checked w/ meter, charging OK. Life is good!
