Hi, Went to hook up my belly mower and noticed the bar that holds up the belly mower is broken clean, like it was a bad weld. Is it something that can be just re welded back on/fixed at home or is it a take it to JD to get it fixed kind of thing? It's a JD 1023E and a 60" belly mower. Any advice helps! Thanks!

It depends on weather your tractor is still under warranty. If it still is definitely take it in. If not price out a new part then decide. Also did it just brake or did you possibly hit something? If you hit something it won't be covered anyway.

Not trying to say you or anyone else is hard on equipment , but just one observation, plus not sure how old your 1023 maybe.

Looking at your photo your lift arms looks really scratched . Just wondering , after removing your mower do you raise the lift arms and then lock them in the raised position ?
Don't know , yours could just be a bad weld , but if lift arms aren't being lifted this could be part of the reason for this the breakage.

It is really hard to relate your pic to the parts illustration?

Maybe you can figure out what broke from this pic. Looks like you had some significant interference over time to cause all that paint to come off and metal to rust?

The deck lift was redesigned because it was breaking the rod on the ends where it gets thin to pass through the lift arms and be secured with the nut. The new design has a solid bar welded to the lift arms so it is all one piece.

Take it to the dealer. JD may cover the defect.
