Hello from the WI/MN border!

Bye bye Johnny....

Hello Johnny!!

Tree stumps and tilling a garden are the first jobs on new Johnny's to do list. Snow removal was the 54" front blade on the x738. Those duties will now be completed with an HLA 1500 snow pusher. Having real ground clearance will be welcome next winter. That front quick hitch on the x738 was convenient but had absolutely no clearance whatsoever!

After two lawn cuts, the 1025 deck was really impressive. However, changing from the FEL to the MMM twice a week was less than desirable so I returned the mower deck and new Johnny got a little brother!

I must say, driving a zero turn for the first time is something like that feeling when you first operate a bumper car at the amusement park. I didn't run over any trees, but I'm sure the neighbors thought I had a few cocktails before setting out...... By the time I was done mowing, I was safe and "mostly accurate". I expect to significantly shave off the mowing time after another time or two.

Thanks for the wonderful community here!!

Cheers.

Awesome! For what it's worth, don't drive a zero turn like you want to when turning...three point turns will save your lawn. Watch a video or two, well worth the time to learn before getting used to doing it wrong. If you're already doing that, disregard :)

Congratulations, you will not be disappointed in owning the zero turn along with the tractor. I think you made the correct decision.

Very good advice. And if there is any moisture in the ground, be aware of skidding out down to dirt when you go around trees, etc.
Always run throttle wide open when mowing......after engaging blades.

I hear ya! Watching how it’s done and putting it into practice are two completely different things! Even with exaggerated movements, i still found myself locking the pivot wheel and putting a few marks in the lawn. Fortunately for me, my lawn is nothing but weeds at the moment!! 😂

Hopefully i can master the skill before the lawn gets rehabilitated!!!!

That air cooled Kawasaki isn’t cold blooded. Less choke is more I’ve found. Minimum engine rpm to engage PTO without killing the engine was a skill learned from the x738.

I need a bit more skill before i venture to close to the trees. 😏

The initial idea seemed a little excessive but once you factor in the cost of the 1025r deck, it was much less of a stretch. Plus, the flexibility made a lot of sense. I had to get a little more creative with the garage space but there is room. I’m sure i won’t be able to imagine yard work without both of them in no time!
