Changing out hydro coupler on 2520

Busy poster today!

I've got something slowly leaking where one of the 4 loader hoses on my 200cx loader attach to the tractor. I am calling that part a hydro coupler (please correct if I am wrong).

I narrowed it down to one coupler. I've have disconnected the loader hose cleaned everything as much as I could several times and thought I had cured the problem only to start leaking a day or a week later for no apparent reason.
I am imagining that there is an "O" ring inside the female coupler on the tractor that has issues?

Today when I entered the garage to change my transmission oil I saw the leaking fluid on the floor again  so I was thinking
A: Probably a great time to change out the coupler since I am draining the oil, and there will no pressure on the coupler?
B: Do those couplers just wrench on/off without any special tools?

The dealer offered to give me the part (I assume the part on the tractor) to change out myself rather than transport my JD2520, 33 miles for service.

Why not just change the "O" ring. Simple and cheap!
Gizmo2 does it sound like an "O" ring to you? The dealer I think offered me the part for free (maybe he was thinking "O" ring like you).

If I disconnect the coupler from the tractor bracket are they two piece and inside is a replaceable "O" ring?

I am headed down to the dealer in about an hour sure would be nice to know what I am talking about. Although a lot of people would say it hasn't stopped me before
If the dealer will give you the coupler then take it, there is a O-ring in there like Giz mentioned but the dealer wont know the size-and I don't know either-sorry.

Yes, very easy. You will have no problems.
I normally take the "O" out and go to the auto store or hardware store and match it up.
To change the "O" ring you will need tools such as these. I use dental picks.

Do you mean O-ring #10 part#M800633 in the pic attached? Got this from jdparts.com. This is a great online resource to view exploded drawings and get parts numbers and pricing.

That is behind the coupler, where it connects to the steel line heading towards the valve. There is no parts breakdown of the coupler itself.

Thanks. I did not clearly understand he meant the hydraulic quick-connect coupler directly. I've replaced these on older tractors. Never bothered to take one apart.
Returned from the dealer ths afternoon. He gave me a package of two "O" rings. If that doesn't work I will replace the coupler. He thought that the most likely cause was the "O" ring as most defective couplers cause fluid restriction.

Removed the old "O" ring carefully to examine. Installed the new with a little poking and proding.

Inside under a good light and spectacles I found a tear in the "O" ring that I do not think I did when removing it. Hopefully that's was my leak.
Can't test right away as I have drained all the transmission oil and will be pulling the suction screen tomorrow. Love that 4.5 gallon oil drain pan that another member suggested :thumbup1gif:

Interested to see what condition I find the screen in after seeeing others posting all the metal filings on theirs.

Thanks for all the tips. Everything I do is for the first time so it's all a learning experience.

ST is your leak occurring when un-coupled from the loader?

When I first bought my 2520 I had two couplers that leaked when un-coupled from the loader. So I ordered a couple and it came as quantity of 6, I bought them all from the dealer and replaced the offending discontents. If yours are leaking when coupled and under pressure then the o-ring is probably your culprit. :thumbup1gif: And I now have spares. :mocking:
