I have tried to put together a spreadsheet on the different backhoe models which go with the different SCUT and CUT models. For those of you who are very knowledgable in the JD SCUT's and CUT's and also what BH models go with them please take a look and let me know where there are errors.

Thanks

I believe that the 485(A) is also compatible with the 30XXR Open-Station models.

Frank,

This is what the latest implement brochure located here on page 22 John Deere shows:

3033R, 3039R, 3046R 7-ft. 10-in. depth 375A Backhoe

3033R, 3039R, 3046R (open stations only) 8-ft. 7-in. depth 385A Backhoe

4044M/R, 4052M/R, 4066M/R open stations and cab 8-ft. 6-in. depth 485A Backhoe

I know that the old 485 worked on the 3x20 open station units. But it looks like the new 385A has similar specs to the old 485 so maybe that is why they only show that. Of course it may be that the old 485 would work on the open station 30xxR series as well. If that is what you mean then I can add it.

I wonder if the sales manager from Mutton would know that answer?

Thanks

Here is an updated chart. I found I had some duplicates as well. I did not add the 485A to the 30xxR series yet. I would like to get confirmation.

Thanks

The 48 BH will also fit 31/33/35/3720 and 45/46/4710.

You should do a separate chart for mounting frame/bracket compatibility. For example, the 48 and 485 BH can fit a 3x20 and a 4x20, but you can't just buy a 485 off a 3120 and put it on a 4120. The mounting brackets that bolt to the tractor (JD calls them side plates or rockshaft assist brackets) are completely different, and the frame that bolts to the backhoe (JD calls this an adapter frame weldment) is also different. The same backhoe can also be used on some 5000 series tractors using a subframe mount. Then there are different kits for the 4x20 depending on production date, and some side plates will fit different tractors than they were designed for. How thorough do you want to be?

I was not thinking of getting that specific. I am guessing that gets into part/kit numbers etc. That would take some time to look up all that data however I can see how handy that would be. My real goal was to give someone an idea what backhoe works with what model tractor. Maybe a foot note can be added to the chart stating that each backhoe model is required to have the proper mounting brackets for that specific model tractor. e.g. where a model 48 BH can be used on a 3x20 series or a 4x20 series one can not use the mounting hardware off of a 3x20 series on a 4x20 series. You need to acquire the proper mounting hardware.

At least something like that would make sense. And then maybe in time these part/kit numbers could be added.

Another thing that would be nice to add would be the specs on each BH. Maybe in time i could get to that as well. Of course if someone would like to chip in then that is fine as well.

thanks for the input! It is greatly appreciated.

Good idea, your wish is my command. I was going to wait for a final version of the chart and post in the Library but Jason has a copy there already. May need updating later.

Good deal - thanks! Now I am going to do some looking around to find this technical library - still finding hidden (to me) gems on the site!

Well just thinking out-loud hear but I was wondering if it would be a good idea to open up a Google Doc's account for the forum?

Seems like this list really needs expanding... beyond some of the suggestions in other comments, I know that the 3520 can use the new BH models, but it can also use a 47,48,447 and 448. I have a 448 on a 3520. Many of the tractors listed have multiple jd options...

I am also struggling to determine if the 448 will mount to a new 3039R... much contradictory opinions, but I have yet to determine the facts.

A really fleshed out chart like this with mounting options would be invaluable for many folks buying used or upgrading a tractor but wants to keep their backhoes...
