Conduit sizes

I'm adding a circuit to my garage using 3-8 gauge THHN wire plus a 10 gauge ground. It's a 50a outlet. Because of using separate wire I have to use conduit, but what size requirements are there? Any? I figured 1 1/2" for ease of pulling.

Cool. Thanks! :thumbup1gif: looks like 1 1/2" was way overkill.

Just keep your 90-degree bends to no more than three.
mjncad, I thought you are limited to a total of 180 degrees without a pull box in something like 100ft run?
I pulled three #8 thhn conductors to my barn over 140' in a 3/4 inch pvc conduit without any problems.

You may very well be right Giz. For the life of me I don't recall an old memory trick an electrical engineer used to say on how many 90's are allowable. I do recall however the fewer the better.

So I guess we are in the same boat as I do not recall either. LOL! I was counting on you to set me straight. That's funny. One thing is for sure, we both know there is a rule/code for it. Time for a nap. See ya, I'm no help here.
