Hi I have a used d140 I purchased . Did a complete tune up spark plugs , all filters , oil change .. mower works fine until it warms up then idles super high and u can’t control it with the throttle . Any idea what might cause this? When the pto is engaged the throttle works to control it up and down but if u r just running the mower the throttle doesn’t work ... any help would be appreciated!!
Have you checked your carb linkage to make sure it is bent and that the Governor Spring is connected. I know your machine is not surging but somewhere to start as this controls throttle.
Sounds like a governor or governor linkage problem. Usually the throttle cable doesn't really go straight to the carb. The throttle being controlled by the governor linkages.
I know you have a D140 but in trying to help you out I found this thread with a guy that was having the problem as you. Read the thread. JD LA145 Mower Wont Idle, Revs High
