Ok so the problem started a couple months ago. The tractor started making a whining noise when i'd use the loader. Then it gradually started making the noise all the time. I did a 200hr service on it (and found small steel shavings in the oil at the pickup filter.
After the service, the noise was higher pitch. Ended up having to push snow that day. About 20 or so minutes since the service and suddenly the noise stopped.....and so did the loader, 3pt, PTO and power steering. The hydrostatic drive is still working fine.
Today i changed the pressure relief valve. Everyone i spoke to seemed to agree that it was the most likely culprit. But it didn't help. Still dead in the water.
Does the hydrostatic drive have it's own pump to run off of or is it shared off the same pump as the implements? I wasn't convinced the pump blew up since the machine can still drive. But now I'm not sure anymore. Oh....and there's some kind of noise that's hard to describe coming from the center case when it's idling. Not constant but, intermittent and random times.
Im not sure how similar it is but on the newer versions the implement hudraulic pump is right above the pto drive. It is separate from the hydrostatic transmission pump.
Here is a pic of my 1025r.
First gen hydraulic pumps are under the seat near the right wheel. I was hoping to avoid digging that far in but to get at the pump, I have to remove the seat/frame, right fender and ROPS. And that's just to get access to the area. Then there's a mess of hydraulic lines and the SVC in the way
Both the transmission and the implement pump share the same oil. You prob have pump pieces making the noise at idle. 😶 Sounds like its time for new pump and oil/filter change.
