So since I got rid of my 318 earlier this season I've had an itch to get a replacement. I get ZERO joy out of using the Cub Cadet as it feels like a cheap toy compared to the vintage JD's. I'm not sure what I'll end up with, but I like the thrill of the hunt. Been looking at a 332, 420, and even a 655. My issue is all the good stuff is so far away out in the fly over states. Everything here on the left coast is overly priced and hard to find.

You might have more selection come the fall and in the spring. Usually in the spring is when people will sell.

Yes, the selection is a lot better in the mid-west. I used to live in Kentucky and there was always a bunch of Deere's on CL.

You might want to go to Machinefinder.com. Sometimes dealers will have some old iron and will be looking to get rid of them.

Patience is key. Everyone here is selling gold, or prospecting hoping to get something and not pay for it. Deals pop up, or try want adds.

Would you be willing to look at a 430 or 455 (diesels) or you only want gas models? the 430 is the diesel variant of the 420, the 455 is the diesel variant of the 425 (carb) and 445 (EFI). But means changing attachments unless you fab a frame squeezer/extender for the 420/430 to use the 3XX series attachment on the front. The 4X5 means some attachment changes too. The 332 allows you to keep the 3XX series attachments you have if you get it with what was existing on the 318 when you sold it.

Here in my area there is several 430 garden tractors for under 2000. My brother has one and it will really pull compared to a 318
