What did you choose to seed with? From the pictures I'm guessing the area does not get many hours of sun. Looks like the one spigot and garden hose can handle the irrigation, which is good.

Topsoil here in the coastal plain of South Carolina looks like sand in color, probably because it is mostly sand. I haven't seen nice dark brown topsoil in fifty years.

I used a blend from our local supply store, 20% rye and the rest tall fescue. It doesn’t get much sun, it had eroded bad over the last 5 years. I’ve never seen black topsoil unless it’s in a bag.

I have 210 more pounds of seed for the back yard, can’t do it all at once. It would take way too long to water everything and the gsd’s wouldn’t be happy. The whole front and both sides of the house this round, 2 weeks or so I’ll hit the back.

That's pretty funny. I've never seen black top soil around here that wasn't in a bag. Don't you think that top soil differs from one part of the country to the other? All of you guys that live in the Bison poop belt are lucky to have black top soil that is probably 10 times better than what we have.

It’s not fill lol, You guys are stuck on black top soil for some reason. You can watch them strip farm land here, This is topsoil.
🤣
For the record, there is not near enough stone in yours to call it top soil for our area. 🤣

I live in the SC red clay. That looks exactly what will call fill. Fill is not a bad thing. It's good packable dirt used to raise an area. Topsoil is a little darker than the red fill around here. More light brown. Not potting soil black. Used to plant grass.

For the record I was just commenting on the color of your topsoil. I wasn’t saying it wasn’t. Around here there are mountains of black topsoil sold by the truckload. The good stuff has sand mixed with it and it comes out with little dung beetle size clumps. Problem is getting it dry enough to spread.
Here’s an example

Your regrade looks nice. Have you thought about maybe a rockery and raising the grade up higher?

I’m done with the grade, I’m not raising it anymore. No reason to really, it’s much better now than it was. Hopefully all the grass comes in good in the next few weeks. On to the next project.
What did you use to grade the area after bringing in the top soil? Just curious if you used the bucket and back drug it or a box blade or finished by hand? End results look good. Keep the seed moist and it should take right off.

How about a picture of the GSD's and their names, who are "supervising / managing" the project......??

I did it mostly back dragging with a full bucket and then a chain harrow to finish. Kero on the left, Diesel on the right.

Great looking K9 kids you have there......German Shepherds are our hands down favorite K9 family members. We have had 5 and presently, my (the real) Sulley Bear is 13.5+ yrs of age, which makes every day precious............

My wife has been looking for a long haired female GSD, as we have had Black and Tan's (which is what Sulley is) we had two Sable colored and even one all white GSD who was retired from the State Police. There is just something about their intelligence, devotion and complete dedication, plus the look in their faces, which is why we will probably always have a GSD.........

Good stuff! My brother was a k9 leo for about 15 years. I was crazy enough to put on the bite sleeve and had his last Belgian bite me. Crazy experience, I would never want to get bit straight up! I want a Belgian next but man they’re expensive dogs! We love the gsd’s, we had American bulldogs before. It’s amazing how smart these dogs are.
