That's an old article. One manufacturer, EFI Live, has skirted this crackdown some how. Maybe because they are not a US company. H&S and Edge paid their fines but EFI Live has out sold those two together by probably 10 fold because many diesel repair shops have this software. Still sold today by 100's of diesel repair and performance shops. Google it and you'll be swamped with links.

Smarty was another company that got caught but they sell street legal tunes now.

Not a 100% sure, but pretty confident, that the ECU also uses hours to trigger a regen. So if I'm correct, tricking the pressure differential won't stop it.
