I was playing with my "Auto X-Ray 5000" scanner the other day and got to thinking about the new tractors. Is there some kind of standard for how the tractor's computers talk?
Cars have the OBD standard mandated by the EPA in the 90's. All cars built after that had to have a standard way for diagnostic tools to interface with them. Now there is the "CAN" bus stuff, which I don't know too much about. I was noticing in my 4720 technical manual that there is CAN bus connections between the various computer boards. I was just curious if there is a similar standard for interfacing to these computers with diagnostic tools. I've always been fascinated by plugging into newer cars and seeing all of the sensor data in real time.

I don't believe there is any standards Arlen, each OEM has there own readers and codes.
