I found some good information regarding tire pressures that individuals are using and recommending. I have one question about heavy loads. So my tires have a range HDAP are like 8 - 12 on front I believe. When doing loader operations should I be on thigh or low end of the range? I am assuming either would work but I wasn't sure if you want to avoid squat at lower pressure or avoid to much pressure on the high end.

Probably a dumb one..

Any tire, to use at its highest load carrying capacity, must be at the pressure listed on the side of the tire, never more than what is listed on the tire.

So, to do FEL work, air your front tires to the pressure listed on the sidewall.

The HDAP tires on my x748 are at 22 psi. I run a snowblower in the winter which is a pretty big load up there. My manual says 22psi if you use front attachments, weights or loader.
Even without a front attachment, I found that while mowing if I turned sharp and quickly, that I would sometimes peel the tire off the bead...very annoying. That would happen if the tire pressure was in that 12 ish psi range.
So now I just keep them at 22 psi

Max psi. If they are still soft find some higher ply tires.


A loader puts way more load on the tires then any other attachments.

My X595 has 4 ply hdap's, the book recommends 18 psi and with aloader 22psi.Your back tires are 8-12,unless you have 2 ply on the front.

So they have all these ranges and at the end have a loaded recommendation. Do you guys actual change your pressure? I go from snowblowing, mower w/bagger, and to loader operations. Should I be on the “loaded” pressure all the time and just not worry about it? Or should I inflate and deflate for each task as recommended?

I left mine high when I had a 445, but I didn’t mow with it. Loader in summer, blower in the winter.

I go by the rating on the sidewall, not the manual, unless you’re using the original tires.

First, what JD says in their operators manual is a guide. The ultimate authority for any tire is the pressure that is listed on the side of the tire. The pressure that is listed on the side of the tire is the pressure that should be used when wanting maximum load carry capacity of the tire, nothing more and nothing less.

So, to answer your question, can or should you lower the pressure in your tires when you are not using them fully loaded. On a tractor, it will not cause an issue to keep them at maximum pressure all the time as tire wear isn't an issue.

On a vehicle, it is more important to use the vehicle mfgs. tire pressure recommendations as their tire pressures are based on the weight of the vehicle (most times tare weight), not necessarily maximum load rating and also tire wear.

Then on a truck with LT tires, the mfg. will most likely have another tire pressure if you are going to use the truck loaded.

If you truck has P metric tires, the mfg. will most likely not change the tire pressure when you use the truck loaded as P metric tire load ratings are pretty constant at one pressure rating. LT tires are not like this. The load rating of a LT tire changes depending on the tire pressure.

I keep my 1025R tires at maximum tire pressures all the time and I check the often.
