I had my JD 3520 first service done about three weeks ago at 60 hrs. If my memory is corrrect I have used it one time since the service for about 1.5 hours. I did check the engine oil because it was drained but I didn't check the trans/hydro fluid or the axle because they were just checked and topped off if needed.

I checked the axle fluid level yeaterday. Mine was incorrect but it wasn't short on fluid it was past the mark by one whole full mark.

Should I be worried? Is the overfill going to cause any problems?

Thanks

Overfilling can cause you to blow a seal in the axle. If my memory is correct, there is no vent on that axle. The increased amount of fluid means there is less air so more pressure on things as the axle heats up. Air will compress, fluid will not.

I doubt you hurt anything in the time you used it, but i would double check the proper way to check the fluid and suck out the extra.

Hi,

What most people either forget or just don't know is that the correct oil level is between the high and low marks. Overfilling can cause damage just as costly as underfilling.

Did you check the fluid level before or after using the machine? If after, the warmed up fluid probably expanded causing a false reading. Wait for it to cool down to room temp and check again. If checked before operation, then you've got too much in there.

I checked it about 2 weeks after I last used it. It was stone cold.
