I went to hook up my air bag compressor today but ran into an issue. First they do not send out new trucks with an owners manual. You can download it easy enough but it is 711 pages and I am not going to have another manual like the tech manual for the 2038R. They do give a source where you can get a printed one but I am not sure if it is a nice book like usual or I will get 711 pages of printed paper like, well like the printed tech manual previously mentioned.

I went to my 711 page manual and it shows every dang option except upfitter switches. I mentions them and says talk to your dealer or go to the body builders layout book. I found it but it was marginally helpful. I did stumble on something and copied it to a word and then pdf since screen shots were not readable. Hopefully @Kennyd can put this in our technical library and put a link to it from this thread.
Here is the page I found. This appears to be accurate for 2017-2024 Super Duty Pickups. The pdf of it just makes it handier to keep.

All this being said it is a nice option that gave me built in switches with fuses and relays and pig tails to hook up to with more things than just the 6 switches and options to how they work.

The top console switches.

The fuse relay box that needs to be lifted up to find the pigtails.

Inside and no this fuse box is not shown in the owners manual either. Neat thing about the fuse box is notice the 5 amp fuse. It has a movable base. If you have it in this position all the switches only work if the accessory or run position is selected. If you slide it over it will make switches 5 & 6 hot even when it is off.

The pigtails that come out the bottom of the fuse box. I wish they were about 2" - 3" longer.

They do a nice job identifying each at least.

I only needed to use Aux1 for the compressor but did put Aux2 into the plug end of a weatherpack connector so it is accessible later. I also put the Battery positive into it so if I run a wire for a battery tender it is ready to go. It is fused and always hot. I left one space open so if I needed it I did not have to push the pins out. One note; when you run the wire for the accessory make sure to make it long enough to allow picking up the fuse box in the future.

Good information Glenn. Hope you're enjoying personalizing your new rig.

Herm,
Congratulations on your new truck.

What do you dislike about the 2038r Technical Service manual, is it a loose paper manual or is the printing quality poor? I know that I sure prefer the old style jD Tech manual for the 425 / 445 / 455 verses the new Tech Manual from Deere.

Those switches are great! My '08 F-250 had 4 of them. Unfortunately, they were only hot when the ignition/accsy was on. Former owner of that truck was a municipality and they'd wired in strobes. I loved having those on the truck.

My 2021 F-250 had 6 switches, like yours. I was going to install some strobes on that truck, but never did.

My '03 F-350 doesn't have upfitters on it, so I'm working on gathering all the parts that I'll need to put in my own.

If you're interested in installing some strobes, check out "Wicked Warnings" YouTube channel. Lots of ideas there.

Like others, looking forward to watching your personalization on this rig!

I always liked the paper manuals that were bound so I ordered the printed version with the tractor. It showed up 3" thick of loose leaf paper in a box. I could have printed that from the pdf myself. I ended up buying a cd copy and I have to admit it is nice because you can search a term like horn and find every interconnected wiring diagram, relay, button, etc. easily since everything is so interconnected.

Nice!
I think they provide pass through wires into the cab at the passenger kick panel as well if you ever need them.
Also I have heard to land the grounds to the chassis or engine block instead of battery negative, something to do with the charge circuit monitoring I guess.
I used to buy vehicle service manuals through Helm inc. but they became quite expensive after a while.

I think they run them there as well, I didn't see anything definitive but it would make sense. Good tip on the ground. (y)
