I recently obtained a weight bracket that I was told came off of a JD 990, that I thought might work on my 2720.
Tonight I got around to installing it. I used the 2 outside holes on the front of the 2720. I had to drill matching holes in the weight bracket. Because of where the dividers were on the weight bracket, I had to thread these holes. I then drilled 2 holes in the front of the tractor to match existing holes in the weight bracket. I mounted it with 4 - 1/2" bolts.

The bracket was low cost, does not interfere with the loader when no weights on it & it holds 6 - 70lb suitcase weights, although I do not think I will ever need that many weights at one time. I will have to remove it in the winter to use the front blade or snowblower. I now have to make a retaining rod for the bracket.

Looks good Chris,

And nice way of overcoming how to fasten near the dividers. Will you be utilizing this when you use your tiller? Is it a must? Just curious as we (the CFO and I) discussed the possibility of a tiller. Was just curious since we have the 2520 and would be pretty close to your 2720.

Thanks

Thank you.

I did want the front weights for using the 655 tiller & later on if I get a Bush Hog mower. I tilled the garden earlier & left the loader on because I did not think I could get enough weight on the front with the small weight bracket. Having the loader mounted makes it difficult in some areas to get around. I just about clipped my garage a couple of times. I am not sure how much weight is really needed on the front with the tiller on the back, but I know the front of the tractor is light with the tiller hooked up & the loader off.

I hear ya about having a loader on while using a tiller, or any other attachment. Can't maneuver as well and just one more thing to worry about when trying to watch what your doing in the back. I have a brush hog and tiller and I have some cramped spaces to get into with my brush hog so it's a must.

I had to make mine and picked up some 40lb weights from HD (free shipping). I welded a receiver to a plate and bolted it to the front of my 2720.
Enough weight for what I need.
I thought I would have to strap them down like I have seen others do, but they don't bounce around.
