I just purchased a John Deere 665 tiller which had been left out in the rain. Overall it is in good shape. However it has a Eurocardan PTO shaft with a torque limiter and when I took the torque limiter apart, the hub with the flange that attaches to the tiller will not come apart from the external housing which connects to the U joint. Normally these should at least spin freely, but even though all spring tension has been removed they are solidly stuck.

We have soaked them for several days in penetrating oil and tapped to try to get it to penetrate, with no luck. We are reluctant to heat it too much unless we really have to. Any suggestions?

I had a bush hog with a stuck one,,,

I loosened the springs,, gave it a couple whacks with a hammer and a chisel,,,
then started cutting a field,,,

Within 15 minutes the clutch was slipping nicely,,, :flag_of_truce:
I re-tightened the springs,, and was good to go!! :bigthumb:
