I picked up a supposedly non running gator hpx a couple weeks ago. Well low and behold when I got thereally to load it up it started right up.

I've since put in a new fuel pump and it runs great. Except.... at high rpm it's got a vibration that shakes the whole front end. No big deal, it needs a new clutch. Get the primary clutch off, start it up still has the vibration with no clutch on. Now I'm stumped. I pulled both plug wires and each cylinder has enough compression to run.

Any ideas?

They are tight.

I loosened them, and the whole machine stopped vibrating because because it was no longer ridgidly mounted. I tightened them back down hoping that the engine would rest into its sweet spot on the mounts. No go.

Does this have variable timing from the ignition module? Could it actually be mis firing at the higher rpms?
