My question is, do I need chains for my 2520 (equipped with R4's)?

Hey Ron
IMO,I would say yes. I ran my R4's with and without and chains make a world of difference.
I only have the 4 link,but being they are the V bar they are awesome.

And if I need chains will they fit with the tires in the wide position?

That is the position best suited for chains anyway.
