Been trying to hunt down a buzzy bearing on the GM1072. Its been hard cause it wont fail outright or smoke.
Using a thermal camera found it in short minutes.

Just looking at the back end it pointed out the fixed idler as the hottest point at 58.5C. Most of the high speed shafts up close barely break 55C

Up close the bearing is 64.4C . After closer inspection this fixed idler was sitting crooked and had a lot of play.

This is a large difference with the sprung idler on the tensioner. It barely shows up the belt is hotter than the pulley.

Thermal camera is definitely a quick way to troubleshoot belts and pulleys. Finally will be able to repair and quiet down this deck. Time to get a replacement and a grease needle.
