Got another Deere

I really didn't want to use my new 1026R to mow the grass at some of my rental properties. Every so often, when I have a tennant move out, I need to keep up the lawn till I can rent the place again. I found a used JD stx38 to take care of the problem. Now I can mow with more freedom without damage to my 1026R a/c mmm. This little deer will fit the bill just fine.

Deere made the STX38s from 1989 to 1997. The earlier ones had 12.5 hp Kohler Commands and the later ones had a 13 hp Kohler Command. The early ones were just gear drives and the later ones were both either gear or hydro drive. The earlier ones had the more desirable, and more heavy duty, yellow decks while the later ones had the less desirable black decks. Prices range from $1999 new in 1989 to $2399 for the Hydro in 1997 ($1999 for the Gear drives in 1997).

My first JD was a STX38 yellow deck and it was a great mower!
