F1 is racing in Monaco this morning. What a great race. All in town and right next to some gorgeous scenery. I just love watching these high tech cars hauling butt through town on a makeshift track made of their streets. Very entertaining!

Then we have the Indianapolis 500 with the Indy cars at 11am. Who doesn’t know about this famous race?

Lastly we have NASCAR’s Coca-Cola 600. That usually proves to be entertaining as well. :good2:

Does anyone else watch the races on the greatest day in racing?

I am not a big fan of the open wheel stuff.

I have been known to watch the Coca-Cola 600 though, but it has been several years. Not really a fan anymore since NASCAR went PC.

Oh, and I don't have TV anymore either.

Years ago a buddy and I would watch the Indy 500 and the CC 600 in his garage. We always saved a few projects for our cars to work on that day. That was always fun.

usually go over to my uncle's place and watch the Indy race with him. he has been to Indy for jeepers-i'm guessing since the mid to late 60's. he hasn't been out since he started having heart troubles. but a dr still buys his seats:gizmo:he says he's had the same seats since the mid-70's. where at :dunno:he's told me-but i forget:lol:

Sister-in-law is having a small get together today, but Charley boy and I will probably go to sit and watch the race instead.

It is definitely the greatest day for a race fan. I'd prefer to watch the F1 over the rest, it's amazing how they make a race course out of everyday city streets. I used to really enjoy the CC600 but have lost most interest in Nascar with all the new rules, though I will still probably watch the race tonight.

Ha! It’s about to start.

I know where it’s at, but I’ve been watching for years.

Hint, it’s not in the South.

OK, since the race is over. Here is where Monaco is at.

It's where all the rich and famous live or play!!!!
Monaco is a tiny independent city-state on France’s Mediterranean coastline known for its upscale casinos, yacht-lined harbor and prestigious Grand Prix motor race, which runs through Monaco’s streets once a year. Monte-Carlo, its major district, is home to an elegant belle-époque casino complex and ornate Salle Garnier opera house. It also has many luxe hotels, boutiques, nightclubs and restaurants.

The Red flag is Monaco!!

I wish there were still drivers pulling the double, racing in both the indy and the Coke.
That was good for both sports.

It's interesting that Jr is a commentator for the indy.

Agreed. The last 26 laps, well lap 176 and the last 14 were super exciting.

Great end to the Indy 500! Good racing.
It Did have an exciting end and very good racing. Sure glad it wasn't a "fuel mileage" race as I really dislike seeing who can run out of gas last verses racing to the checker flag like today's race.

What was the deal with getting to victory lane? Did they forget where it was? I wasn't sure what happened but eventually they got there........

Great race, but I just can't get over the difference between NBC and FOX on race coverage. The biggest crash of the day which led to the red flag and NBC had to look for footage to show it, verses FOX seems to somehow always catch the action live......I shudder at the thought of NBC taking over the NASCAR broadcasts each year (but I don't miss the Waltrip bros, especially goofy Mikey...)

Plus, Danica doesn't have a broadcast career ahead of her, in my opinion. She just doesn't add any perspective or insight which is interesting, not even the black dress......a giant "swing and a miss" in my opinion. I did like Dale Jr's comment about the car going through the grass "I don't know anything about these cars, but it sure looked easier than when we did it...." or something like that. Good old Dale Jr. He is pretty entertaining.....

Dale Jr. better jump on his jet and get to Charlotte so he doesn't miss the 600......that would be a venial sin against NASCAR by it's long time favorite son.......(verses a cardinal sin...)

He was also the Pace Car driver for the start and then had to full fill his NBC contract duties.. He and Danica and that other dude at the table at the end of pit row must be there just to give the other announcers bathroom breaks because they really didn't add much to the broadcast.....
