I need a new steering rod end RE46000 for our 5300. My dealer's price is $340 for the new #SJ16769. The price from greenfarmparts.com is $145 which they state is OEM. The price I get from car quest is $89 for an aftermarket of course.

I only have 2 tractors here to deal with but several other green golf/turf equipment and I have a couple general questions about green aftermarket parts.

1) buying OEM parts from greenfarmparts.com for less than 1/2 price sounds too good to be true. How can this be?

2) Any other thoughts on aftermarket parts in general?

Thanks,
Roland

I have bought a few things from GFP, got a order coming within a day to two again.. They are OEM parts, and as far as the price difference, maybe your dealer quoted you suggested retail price? I will say GreenFarmParts has done me good so far!! I would recommend them!! :good2:

ALL of our parts are genuine (OEM) John Deere. However, the price for the SJ16769 steering arm on our site is $323.38, not $145.00. Of course, we do offer online coupons all of the time as well as the Green Tractor Discount every day of the year (see below).

Most dealers take the John Deere list price and add a matrix to that price. If your dealer is selling the SJ16769 arm for $340.00 that is list price. We sell 99.9% of our parts below list price.

Here is the link to the steering arm: John Deere Steering Arm SJ16769

Have a great day!

As far as aftermarket parts go (in my opinion) it is always a crap shoot. A lot of folks buy aftermarket when they can to save money and I completely get it. Who doesn't want to save money? But I can quote at least a dozen or more cases where some of our customers have purchased aftermarket parts only to have them break or wear our prematurely. In several of those cases there was a 30/30 warranty - 30 seconds or 30 feet from the door. Two of those issues involved items that were safety issues. Of course we believe that OEM parts are your best bet, as every John Deere dealer feels the same. Again, not saying there aren't some quality aftermarket parts out there but you DO have to be careful and do your homework. :thumbup1gif:

AH!!!!!!! Now I see where you got that price of $145.00. Sorry, but the RE46000 is sold out and replaced by the SJ16769. We actually had these in stock until last Friday but they are gone. Unfortunately the only option is the SJ16769 for OEM.

Yes, I even confused myself of that one. Sorry. The $145 was for the old part.

GFP, I see that your prices are a bit lower than my dealers, not including other discounts. I will certainly keep you in mind.

Thanks,
Roland
