I think he’s talking about the quick attach shoe on the loader. If so, that’s cast. An experienced/good welding shop could fix it, but it may be better to get a new one from Mother Deere.

IIRC you need to use nickel rod to weld cast iron, along with preheat and postheat. Ask your local welding supplier what to use, perhaps they can point you in the right direction and sell you the appropriate consumables. It would be wise to bring a broken piece in with you, perhaps they can determine which type of cast iron it is.

Funny, when the OP says chopper I picture a chopper with an interchangeable silage and corn head, a picture is worth a thousand words in this case I guess.
