Hi all:

My husband has asked me to try to figure out what this broken part from our X300 mower is. I've searched all the likely part numbers but nothing looks like it. Any help would be appreciated.

Well, it is really bent up and torn apart from the picture you have posted, but from the color it would be from a mowing deck or other attachment as there is no yellow painted metal on the tractor itself. Which deck do you have? Without more information it appears it could be the lower lip that spans the opening for the discharge chute -- it it were to have become bent in and up just a little bit the mower blades would make mince meat of it (kinda like the picture...)

Look under the deck and see if you are missing a baffle

Might be from the front bottom of the mowing deck.

I took a closer look at the 38C deck parts diagram -- the most likely culprit is the lip section highlighted here:

The Deere part number is M153360, revised from the earlier number M142577, and called a "Lip"
