I have searched this site and there are several threads on "painting OSB used for interior garage/workshop walls." I found those helpful, but I'm not sure the results are going to be satisfactory. I know it's "just a garage", but I will be spending a lot of time there and want it to be reasonably nice and easy to clean up from time to time.
As others have recommended, I gave the walls a good sanding w/ 80 grit sandpaper. This removed a lot of loose material but, as expected, doesn't make it smooth. I started to roll the first coat of Kilz on. I did about 150 square feet. Looking back at the area I started, it look barely covered. I finished the day with a 2nd coat on a small area to see what it will look like tomorrow. I'm starting to think two coats is not going to be enough. Given the price of paint, this could easily add up to $500 just in Kilz.
And, I'm probably going to spend some time filling the holes left by the nail gun used to fasten the sheets to the walls.
I curious of anyone has covered OSB with anything other than paint?
BTW, I do like the idea of a "wood" wall that makes it easy to attach items. I'm not sure I have the patience to sheetrock over the OSB.
Thanks
John
